    home security

  • Physical security describes both measures that prevent or deter attackers from accessing a facility, resource, or information stored on physical media and guidance on how to design structures to resist various hostile acts.
  • When investing in audio video equipment it is just that, an investment, and when investing your money in this quality equipment you’ll feel safer knowing your products are protected.
  • Securing a home from burglaries, fires, or environmental hazards using security systems, alarm monitoring, video monitoring, and/or video surveillance.

    window locks

  • Having heavy duty window locks can make your home less attractive to burglars.
  • (window lock) sash fastener: a lock attached to the sashes of a double hung window that can fix both in the shut position
  • Are designed to prevent windows from being opened other than by use of a key. Window locks are available for most types of windows and their cost varies with quality. Leaflets are available from all the major lock companies and a selection should be handed to the householder.

"Locks keep out only the honest" – Jewish proverb

"Locks keep out only the honest" - Jewish proverb
One of my greatest fears is having an intruder in my home. I’m very security conscious and I lock every window and door before I go out. I spend a LOT of nights on my own with the children due to H being away or working nights and when he’s not there, I find it very hard to settle. I lie awake thinking of emergency plans in case someone gets in. How I would get the children out safely. It’s bordering on obsession to be honest.

I saw the above proverb and thought it’s so true. When H is on nights, I have to leave the chain off so he can get in but I never sleep when it’s off. I know full well that the chain would not keep anyone out but having it on reassures me. If someone wanted to get in they’d have very little trouble. It upsets me that we can’t do anything more to secure the house (it’s rented) but perhaps doing more would only make me more paranoid.

"Silver" for the scavenger hunt.

This is where I’ve been doing all my web and UI designing the past 3 weeks. It’s usually 3-4 days a week here, and a few days working onsite. So far I’m loving it!
